Monday, April 26 - ongoing
9:00am: Sisterhood Community Project
Duration: 3 hours, daily
It is with great enthusiasm that I relate to you the new Sisterhood community project.  This will be to help the needy and homeless in Venice. Some are young families who have great needs and also the homeless population, who literally have nothing. We will be collecting a variety of items, which are desperately needed. Examples include:

  • Clothing for both men and women including socks, underwear (men’s), both warm and cool weather clothing, as well as shoes.
  • Household goods (small appliances, kitchen utensils, plates, cups, cleaning products (opened or unopened)
  • Toiletries (regular size and also “hotel size” especially for the homeless who live out of their backpacks and have little room.)  Again, things like shampoo, conditioner, etc., are ok if started.  Many JCV members will be headed back north soon, and if you have anything you won’t be using, these would be greatly appreciated.  Also, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc.
  • Blankets, towels and washcloths, pillows.
  • Remember, these items can be New or USED.

We will begin on Monday, April 26.  The drop off hours will be between 9:00am and noon. I plan to have boxes or totes at the JCV for Beata to put out in the morning and take in before she leaves so there isn’t any need to come inside. As you go through your closets, please remember how much your donation would mean to these people.

Thanking you in advance.
Debbie Jefko, JCV sisterhood President

11:30am to 1:00pm: Lag B’Omer Program and Picnic

JCV Website Tips

Over the past year, this website has been redesigned to be a more comprehensive communication tool for congregants and anyone who wish to learn more about the Jewish Congregation of Venice. Please visit us often at www.jewishcongregationvenice.com. Over the next several weeks you will find an article in JCV News that provides helpful tips about the website.

This week is the JCV Website Giving Tip:

If you wish to learn more about the many funds to which you can contribute, go to the JCV website. In the navigation bar, click on “DONATE.”  In the drop down box, click on “Support the JCV.” The direct link is https://www.jewishcongregationvenice.com/help.

Should you be inspired, you can click on any of the links on this page to go directly to the DONATE page. At the bottom of every page, you can also click on the word “DONATE.”

The “DONATE” page is a secure page that enables you to contribute to the JCV.  Here you can pay dues or make a contribution. Under "type", select your choice.  Then follow the directions on the rest of the form. This is a secure site, but for those who wish, a check mailed to the JCV is also welcomed.
