Shabbat Worship

JCV Shabbat Services Schedule
All Shabbat Services now held indoors at the JCV, 7:30pm on Fridays.

Only fully vaccinated JCV members may attend in-person sanctuary services.
Masking and social distancing will be optional for all attendees.
No name tags are available; should you wish to wear a kippah or tallit, please bring your own.
There will be an Oneg with prepackaged food and bottled water.
RSVP for Shabbat Services. A weekly notification will be sent prior to services requesting your reply. If you plan to attend Shabbat Services on Friday, August 6, RSVP required by replying to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KMVDGGJ.

Duration 90 minutes. Brown Bag Lunch Series - Lifelong Learning at the JCV.

The history of Israel's relations with her Arab neighbors, including the Palestinians, is long and complex. In order to clarify and summarize this important story, we will use a set of maps to explain the past, describe the present, and anticipate the future. This session will provide a basic introduction to a topic that concerns us all. Hosted by Rabbi Ben Shull. Bring your own lunch and join us. RSVP to rabbi@thejcv.org by Monday, August 16. Noon: Break the Fast Meals to Go - pickup
Duration: 60 minutes

$14.00 per person. Also available for sale is our famous JCV Challah, $5.00 per loaf. Preordered Break the Fast Meals will be available for pick up ONLY at the JCV (under the portico) from noon to 1:00pm on September 16. RESERVE EARLY. Preorder deadline – September 3, 2021. JCV Sisterhood’s Back to School Project

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN! Kids are returning to the classroom and so many of them lack the necessary school supplies needed to help them to be successful for the new school year.

The JCV Sisterhood’s next community service project is to collect a variety of school supplies, which will be given to children whose parents cannot afford to purchase all of these necessities. We are asking our Sisterhood, as well as the entire JCV Congregation, to assist us in the collection of any school supplies that you are able to donate. This would include backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, highlighters, or anything else you can imagine.
A box will be placed outside the front doors of the JCV and you will be able to deposit your donation in it between the hours of 9:00am and 1:00pm, Monday through Friday and continue through Friday, August 13. You will not have to come inside. If you are attending Shabbat Services, this would be a perfect time to bring those supplies with you. Stores are having wonderful sales right now. Providing the children with the tools needed for success is a mitzvah! They will be distributed to children in the Venice area.

Fully vaccinated members in good standing are welcome to attend in-person Shabbat Services!
Zoom services are still available for those who are unable to attend!
A big thank you to all our members who have already paid their dues!

To be a member in good standing, your membership dues should be paid in full by July 1, 2021. Members who have not met their financial commitments by September 1, 2021, shall be considered NOT in good standing. Need special arrangements? Contact the JCV Treasurer, Sam Gurian, at treasurer@thejcv.org.

Note that full members are entitled to utilize all JCV services, including High Holy Days services. Seasonal members are entitled to utilize all JCV services, except High Holy Days services. JCV membership dues for the 2021/2022 fiscal year are payable through your account on www.jewishcongregationvenice.com or by check at the JCV office. See poster below.

You Can Pay Your Dues Online

JCV membership dues for the 2021-2022 season are payable beginning July 1, 2021. If you like, you can easily pay your dues online. Follow the instructions below:

Go to the JCV website at jewishcongregationvenice.com. Sign in to your account:
Select “Log In.”
From the top black row, select “My Account” from the drop down selection.
Scroll down to the section titled “Financials”:
Click on “My Statements.” You should see your statement:
Scroll to the end of the statement.
Click on “Submit a Payment.”
This will bring you to the “Online Payments” page. Follow the prompts.

Rabbi's Day Off and Office Hours

Rabbi Shull’s day off will be Sundays until such time as the synagogue building will be open for regular programming. Anyone interested in meeting Rabbi Shull in his office at the JCV, precluding any emergencies, is encouraged to give him a call and make an appointment during his regular office hours.

Wednesday 9:30am to 2:30pm
Thursday 10:00am to noon
Friday 9:00am to noon

If you would like to meet him in person at the JCV any other time Monday through Friday, that can also be arranged by calling to make an appointment. Rabbi Shull can be reached at 941-441-5713.

Submitting Articles to JCV News and Deadlines

Criteria for publication: JCV News welcomes JCV and member-related news for publication. Only articles or Zoom meeting information will be considered for publication. Articles that will not be considered: commercial, political, or solely promotional in nature; submitted to, accepted by, or published by another medium, printed or online; copyrighted materials without permission.

Submitting articles to JCVNews@thejcv.org: Material submitted for publication should be presented as articles or Zoom meeting information in the text of the main body of your email. Pictures must be a separate .png file attachment. Avoid including attachments unless essential. Do not submit an event or article if it has not been confirmed by all parties involved.

Deadline for submissions: 5:00pm on the Wednesday prior to the Sunday of publication. All requests for publication should be sent to JCVNews@thejcv.org. This email address is to be used for submission of articles for consideration of publication only. Final versions of submissions are the only emails that will be accepted.
